Chapter 33

1

Now I, Nephi, can't write everything that was taught among my people. I'm not as powerful in writing as I am in speaking, because when someone speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost carries it into the hearts of the children of men.

And now I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which were taught among my people; neither am I mighty in writing, like unto speaking; for when a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.

There are many who harden their hearts against the Holy Spirit, so it has no place in them; as a result, they reject many things that are written and consider them worthless.

But behold, there are many that harden their hearts against the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught.

I, Nephi, have written what I have written, and I consider it very valuable, especially for my people. I pray for them constantly during the day, and at night my tears soak my pillow because of them. I cry out to God in faith, and I know he will hear my prayer.

But I, Nephi, have written what I have written, and I esteem it as of great worth, and especially unto my people. For I pray continually for them by day, and mine eyes water my pillow by night, because of them; and I cry unto my God in faith, and I know that he will hear my cry.

I know that the Lord God will dedicate my prayers for the benefit of my people. The words I have written in weakness will become strong for them, because they persuade them to do good, teach them about their ancestors, and testify of Jesus. They encourage them to believe in him and to endure to the end, which is eternal life.

And I know that the Lord God will consecrate my prayers for the gain of my people. And the words which I have written in weakness will be made strong unto them; for it persuadeth them to do good; it maketh known unto them of their fathers; and it speaketh of Jesus, and persuadeth them to believe in him, and to endure to the end, which is life eternal.

It speaks strongly against sin, according to the clear truth; so no one will be angry at the words I have written unless they have the spirit of the devil.

And it speaketh harshly against sin, according to the plainness of the truth; wherefore, no man will be angry at the words which I have written save he shall be of the spirit of the devil.

I rejoice in plainness; I rejoice in truth; I rejoice in my Jesus, for he has redeemed my soul from hell.

I love my people and have great faith in Christ that I will meet many people who are pure at his judgment seat.

I have charity for my people, and great faith in Christ that I shall meet many souls spotless at his judgment-seat.

I have love for the Jews—I say Jews because I mean the people I came from.

I have charity for the Jew—I say Jew, because I mean them from whence I came.

I also have charity for the Gentiles. But I cannot hope for any of them unless they are reconciled to Christ, enter the narrow gate, walk the straight path that leads to life, and continue on that path until the end of their time of probation.

I also have charity for the Gentiles. But behold, for none of these can I hope except they shall be reconciled unto Christ, and enter into the narrow gate, and walk in the strait path which leads to life, and continue in the path until the end of the day of probation.

My beloved brothers, Jews, and everyone throughout the world, listen to these words and believe in Christ. If you don't believe these words, believe in Christ. If you believe in Christ, you will believe these words because they are the words of Christ, and he has given them to me. They teach everyone to do good.

And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good.

And if these are not the words of Christ, judge for yourselves—for Christ will show you, with power and great glory, that they are his words at the last day; and you and I will stand face to face before his judgment bar; and you will know that I was commanded by him to write these things, despite my weakness.

And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye—for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are his words, at the last day; and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness.

Now, my beloved brothers and sisters, everyone who is of the house of Israel, and all people throughout the earth, I speak to you as a voice calling from the dust: Farewell until that great day comes.

And to those of you who will not accept the goodness of God, or respect the words of the Jews, my words, or the words that will come from the mouth of the Lamb of God, I say a final farewell, because these words will condemn you at the last day.

And you that will not partake of the goodness of God, and respect the words of the Jews, and also my words, and the words which shall proceed forth out of the mouth of the Lamb of God, behold, I bid you an everlasting farewell, for these words shall condemn you at the last day.

What I seal on earth will be brought against you at the judgment bar, because the Lord has commanded me, and I must obey. Amen.
