1

However, the darkness will not be as great as it was when she was troubled before, when he first lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and later brought greater affliction along the way of the Red Sea, beyond the Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

Nevertheless, the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, and afterwards did more grievously afflict by the way of the Red Sea beyond Jordan in Galilee of the nations.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who live in the land of the shadow of death, a light has shined on them.

You have multiplied the nation and increased their joy. They rejoice before you like people celebrating a harvest, like those who are happy when they divide the plunder.

You have broken the yoke of his burden, the staff on his shoulder, and the rod of his oppressor.

Every battle of the warrior is fought with chaos and blood-stained clothing, but this one will be with burning and fuel for fire.

A child is born to us, a son is given to us; the government will rest on his shoulders, and he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

There will be no end to the growth of his government and peace, as he rules on the throne of David and over his kingdom, establishing it and upholding it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will accomplish this.

The Lord sent his word to Jacob, and it has come upon Israel.

The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with cut stones; the sycamore trees have been cut down, but we will replace them with cedars.

So the Lord will bring Rezin’s enemies against him and unite his opponents.

The Syrians are in front and the Philistines are behind, and they will consume Israel openly. Even after all this, his anger has not turned away, and his hand is still stretched out.

The people do not turn to the one who strikes them, and they do not seek the Lord of Hosts.

So the Lord will remove both the head and the tail, the branch and the reed from Israel in a single day.

The elder is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.

The leaders of this people lead them astray, and those who follow them are destroyed.

So the Lord will not take pleasure in their young men, nor show mercy to their orphans and widows, because everyone is a hypocrite and does evil, and every mouth speaks foolishness. Even with all this, his anger is not turned away, and his hand is still stretched out.

Wickedness burns like fire; it will consume the briers and thorns, and ignite the thickets of the forests, and they will rise up like smoke.

Because of the anger of the Lord of Hosts, the land is darkened, and the people will be like fuel for the fire; no one will have mercy on his brother.

He will grab with his right hand and still be hungry; he will eat with his left hand and not be satisfied; each person will eat the flesh of his own arm—

Manasseh will be against Ephraim, and Ephraim against Manasseh; together they will be against Judah. Even with all this, his anger is not turned away, and his hand is still stretched out.
